Mr. and Mrs. Claude McLaughlin brought a Chinese Bible to the Pearl Buck Home in Hillsboro Sunday. It was the New Testament translated by Absalom Sydenstricker, Pearl Buck’s father, while he was a missionary in China. The Bible had been given to Dr. David D. Sydenstricker, Pastor of the Oak Grove Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro, brother of Absalom, and then to his daughter, Mrs. McLaughlin, who was Polly Sydenstricker, a niece. Miss Buck had asked her to give it to the home when it was restored.
