Winter Educational Dinner Meeting

The Winter Educational Dinner Meeting will be held at Marlinton Municipal Building Wednesday, January 18, at 6 p.m. (Note date change.) Dr. Mark Alley, a technical service veterinarian with Zoetis, will speak about the new veterinary feed directive that begins January 2017. This will affect many producers who use and feed medicated feeds to livestock. Dr. Alley’s primary interests are beef and dairy production medicine including: record analysis, economics, pasture/grazing management, parasite control, and animal handling/ welfare.

Attendance at this meeting will also be worth three (3) pesticide applicator recertification credits for categories 11, 12 and PA.

To attend, RSVP to the WVU Extension Office, 304-799-4852, by Friday, January 13. For those who would like dinner, there will be a $3 charge to help cover the cost.

Pocahontas Beekeepers

The January meeting of the Pocahontas Beekeepers will be held Thursday, January 20, at the Marlinton Wellness Center beginning at 7 p.m. For more information please call the WVU Extension Office at 304-799-4852.

Pocahontas County 4-H Camp

The 2017 Pocahontas County 4-H Camp will be held July 17-21, so mark your calendars now.
 
Poster and Photo Contests

All entries in the county 4-H Poster and Photo contests are due in the Extension Office by January 31.  Contact your local 4-H club leader or the Extension Office for more information.
 
State Teen Leaders Weekend – March 24-26

Registration for State Teen Leaders Weekend is now open for all 4-Hers between the ages of 13 and 19.  (Participants must not be beyond their senior year of high school.).  All registration information can be found at  http://4-hyd. ext.wvu.edu/events_forms/tlw and the online registration deadline is March 3. 
 
Dramas, Fairs and Festivals Applications

Applications for the Dramas, Fairs and Festivals grants for this quarter are due in the Extension Office by February 1.  If you have any questions or need an application form, please call the office at 304-799-4852.
