What’s Cookin’?

Spiced Apple Cider
3 quarts cider
1 stick cinnamon
1 whole nutmeg
1 whole clove
½ cup sugar
Place spices in a cheesecloth bag. Put cider, sugar and bag in a pan and simmer for at least 3 minutes.
Serve hot.
 
Apple and Sweet
Potato Casserole
1 can sweet potatoes, sliced
2 cups sliced apples
3/4 cup maple-blended syrup
1/4 cup melted butter
1 tsp. salt
Place potatoes in a greased 12 x 8 x 2-inch baking dish.
Arrange apples on top.
Combine syrup, butter and salt.
Pour over potatoes and apples.
Cover.
Bake at 350º for 45 minutes.
Remove cover and bake for 30 minutes longer or until apples are tender.
