What’s Cookin’?

Honey Baked Apples
2 1/4 cups water
3/4 cup brown sugar
3 Tbsp. honey
6 large tart apples
1 cup golden raisins
In a saucepan, bring water, brown sugar and honey to a boil. Remove from the heat.
Core apples and peel the top third of each. Place in an ungreased 9-inch baking dish.
Fill apples with raisins, and sprinkle any remaining raisins into the pan.
Pour sugar syrup over the apples.
Bake, uncovered, at 350º for one hour or until tender, basting occasionally.
Serve with ice cream, if desired.

Apple Crisp
4 cups peeled, sliced tart apples
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. allspice
1/3 cup cold butter or margarine
Place apples in a greased 8-inch square baking dish.
Combine brown sugar, flour, oats, cinnamon and allspice in a bowl and cut in butter until crumbly.
Sprinkle over apples.
Bake at 375º for 30 to 35 minutes or until apples are tender.
Serve with ice cream, if desired.
