Applesauce Spice Cake

2 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 cup margarine
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
16 oz. can applesauce
3/4 cup raisins
1/2 cup chopped nuts
Combine first seven ingredients, and set aside.
Beat margarine with mixer for 30 seconds.
Add sugar and beat until combined.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating one minute after each.
Add dry ingredients and applesauce alternately.
Beat well.
Stir in raisins and nuts.
Pour in a greased and floured 13 x 9 pan.
Bake at 350º for 45 minutes or until center is done.

Southern Pecan Pie

1/4 cup soft oleo
3/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs, well beaten
1 cup dark corn syrup
1 1/2 cup pecan halves
9-inch unbaked pie shell

Cream oleo and sugar.
Gradually add eggs, syrup and vanilla.
Sprinkle pecans in pie shell.
Pour filling over all.
Bake in preheated 400º oven for 10 minutes.
Reduce heat to 350º.
Bake 20 to 30 minutes longer or until pie is set.
