FARM NEWS
Richard McNeel, of Hillsboro, was elected president of Pocahontas County Farm Bureau. The vice president is James McNeill and the Secretary-Treasurer is Miss Margaret Irvine.
The board of directors is composed of Richard McNeel, Sherman Beard, James McNeill, Dewey Sharp, Richard Gibson, Ernest White, Clyde Wooddell and H. L. Stokes.
This year, there are 22 Four-H Clubs in Pocahontas County with a membership of 547. Last year there were 20 clubs with 518 members. There are 242 boys and 305 girls enrolled.
Ali Aran, of Burea, Turkey, is here to work with the Extension Agents in Pocahontas County. He is one of 27 trainees from his country come to spend a year in America to study methods and techniques. On their return, they will assist in developing an Agricultural Extension Service in Turkey. Mr. Aran spent two weeks in the farm home of Gordon Dilley and then two weeks with the County Extension Agents. His next stop will be in Randolph County.
BROWNSBURG NEWS
Miss Eleanor Stewart has returned to New York after spending a few days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Stewart.
Easter gusts at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Tibbs were Mr. and Mrs. Mose Winston, Mrs. Mable Hill Boggs and Hayden Tibbs.
Mrs. Boyd Daugherty has returned to her employment at the Pocahontas Memorial Hospital after being off for some time with a broken ankle.
Those attending the Tri-County PTA at Lewisburg, Saturday, were Miss Faye Dunlap, Mesdames George Walker, Ida Sue Choice, Mrs. Sidney Goodwyn, Eugene Mitchell and Eddie Washington. The were accompanied by Eugene Mitchell, Jr.
The Mt. Zion Choir and the Chapel Sons of Brownsburg plan to attend the Meadow Bluff District Singing Convention to be held April 30th in the Rome Baptist Church at Leslie.

The farmers are all busy doing their plowing, getting ready to put out crops.

Mr. and Mrs. Rush McNeill, of Hillsboro, visited the home of Frank Morrison Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Boggs, of Jacox, visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hill Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Murl Hill and son, Michael, visited Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Hill and Mrs. L. D. Rupert of Frankford the past weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Ward Hill and son, Barry, of Dunmore, visited home folks the past weekend.
Eddie and Denver McMillion, Vinton and Hill and Curtis Coleman spent Sunday afternoon with Lorraine Hill.

DEATHS
Lee Moore, aged 76 years, of Millpoint; burial in the family plot in Mt. View cemetery, the service being held from Marvin Chapel. Thus, is noted the passing of a good citizen and churchman.

Benjamin Franklin Carpenter, aged 46 years, died at the home of his brother, Daniel H. Carpenter, on Beaver Dam. Burial in the Buckley cemetery on Bucks Run. The deceased was a son of the late John Wesley and Mary Harris Carpenter. His brothers are Albert B., Charles, Floyd, Hampden and Daniel.

Anthony David Kershner, aged 70, of Droop Mountain; a son of Royal P. and Nancy Johnson Kershner. He is survived by his wife, Nannie McCoy Kershner; sons, Lacy and Woodrow; and daughter, Mrs. John Geiger…
