Roy Harper

Roy French “Harp” Harper, age 81, of Petersburg, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2015, at his home.

A native of Benbush, Roy was born September 7, 1934, and was a son of the late Dayton Roy and Nolla Gladys Davis Harper.

Roy was chief warrant officer with the Maryland National Guard and a member of the Medium United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Audrey Ramsey and Vivian Alkire.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Naomi Rudd Harper, of Petersburg, Tennessee; a daughter Cornelia Chomech, and, Bill “Andele” Dodson, of Columbia, Tennessee, and Frances Gosnell, and husband, Bennie, of Maryland; grandchildren, Vicki Ball, Taylor Ball, Valarie Ownes, Danielle Gosnell, Roy Johnson, Nina Johnson, Justina Steudl, Shamus Currin, Connor Isbell, Nicholas Isbell and Andriana Rose Jackson; and a brother, Forrest Wesley Harper.

Funeral service was December 23 at Medium United Methodist Church in Petersburg, Tennessee, with Brother Tony Williams officiating. Interment was in Short Cemetery in Lewisburg, Tennessee.
