Robert Joseph “Bicycle Joe” Buzzard, age 78, of Marlinton, died Sunday, February 1, 2015 at his home.
Born August 3, 1936, at Mountain Grove, Virginia, he was a son of the late William Cash and Ada Hare Buzzard.
Joe was a retired correctional officer from the State Correctional Center in Moundsville and was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Green Buzzard; a son, Joseph Clint Buzzard; three sisters, Betty Ryder, Dessie Brammer and Louise Rimel; and a brother, Ray Buzzard.
He is survived by a son, William Hank Buzzard; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends Thursday, February 5, from 7 to 9 p.m. at VanReenen Funeral Home. Funeral service is Friday, February 6, 2 p.m. at VanReenen Funeral Home with Pastor Caleb Barkley officiating. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery Mausoleum in Marlinton.
