Ollie Curry

Ollie Mae Curry, age 87, of Louisville, Kentucky, widow of Samuel Wentz Curry, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2024, at The Pinnacle of Louisville.

Born October 9, 1936, in Paris, Texas, she was a daughter of the late Sanders W.D. and Stella Ellen Gilbert Baxter York.

Along with her husband she was a former resident of Harrodsburg, Kentucky, and Marlinton. She was a social worker for the state of West Virginia before retiring. She loved being with her family, playing board games such as 42 Dominoes and Scrabble. Her laughter was infectious. She was an active member of the Westport Road Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky.

Survivors include a daughter Brenda (David) White, of Louisville, Kentucky; two sons, Samuel (Myra) Wayne Curry, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Paul (Alyssa) Curry, of Georgetown, Kentucky; a sister, Wanda Lavonne Miller, of Hemet, California; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter Julia Mae Jackson; brother, Jesse Velton Baxter; and sister, Agnes Mozelle Connick. 

Graveside service will be conducted Saturday, April 20, 2024, 5 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery in Marlinton.
