Michael Mynuk

Michael Mynuk, Jr., age 86, of Marlinton, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at Pocahontas Memorial Hospital.

Born January 29, 1927, at Berwick, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Michael Mynuk, Sr., and Nellie Evanko Mynuk.

Michael had worked for U.S. Steel in Pennsylvania from 1957 to 1983. He was a United States Navy Veteran, a member of the St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Marlinton and VFW West Virginia Post 4595. He had served as Pocahontas County Commissioner from 1992 to 1998.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Mynuk (January 26, 1952 to December 29, 2012); and a daughter-in-law, Linda Suzanne Mynuk (July 22, 1955 to March 30, 2013.)

He is survived by his wife, Grace Virginia Gay Mynuk, whom he married January 3, 1951; a brother, John Mynuk, of Claymont, Delaware; a grandson, Eric Mynuk, and wife, Calia, of Las Vegas, Nevada; a granddaughter, Tatiana Mynuk, of Lewisburg; and a great-grandson, Ian Mitchell Mynuk, of Las Vegas.

Mass of Christian Burial was January 4 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church with Father Thomas Chacko officiating. Interment with Military Rites conducted by the Pocahontas County Veterans Honor Corps was in Mountain View Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Marlinton Fire and Rescue Squad, 709 Second Avenue, Marlinton, WV 24954.
