Mary Ionescu

Mary Lydia Hill Ionescu, age 82, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 22, 2013.

Born September 4, 1931, at Lobelia, she was the 10th child and youngest daughter of the late Elwood and Ruby Hill.

Mary graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1949 and worked for Hilbert Optical in Washington, D.C., for many years.

In July 1964, she married Constantin A. “Costal” Ionescu. In 2005, they relocated from Chevy Chase, Maryland, to Round Rock, Texas, to be closer to their son, Tony.

In her later years, Mary enjoyed live music and regularly attended Unity Church of the Hills in Austin, Texas.

A dearly loved wife, sister, mother, grandmother and friend, she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; five brothers, Joel, Paul, Ward, Murl and Lorraine; and a sister, Dorothy.

She is survived by a son, Tony; brother, Melvin; sisters, Ruth, Madeline and Betty; sisters-in-law, Stella, Doris and Dacil; daughters-in-law, Luba and Lee; and grandsons, Mark and Michael.

Memorial service is Sunday, January 19, 1 p.m. at her home, 1805 Stagecoach Trail, Round Rock, Texas.
