The multiple benefits of trails are well-known and begin by having sustainable and engaging experiences where people live. Our Pocahontas County SHARC group and specifically WVU Extension Services have identified the benefits of IMBA Ride Center designation to the local economy.

As Senior Program Officer for the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation, Mary Hunt has served West Virginia and its communities for 22 years. She has helped leverage and direct funding across the state and has been an avid supporter and thought leader in the growing trails movement. As Mary’s retirement was announced last month, WV TRAIL and dozens of local groups and communities have acknowledged her meaningful contributions to West Virginia and are grateful for her steadfast guidance and leadership. The Mon Forest Towns Partnership (MFTP) wants to be one of those groups that joins in saying, Thank you, Mary! You have been a Champion for Trails and the Recreation Economy. We wish you long retirement and know that we will miss you.
