On Sunday, November 19, 2017, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s, Lewis Clifton Beale, of Marlinton, lost his battle and went to be with the Lord.

Born April 13, 1939, at Mace, he was a son of the late Norman and Eleanor Ruth Beale.

Lewis was a loving husband, caring father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved his daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was a member of the Mace United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge #127 A.F. & A.M. in Marlinton and a member of the Pocahontas County Scottish Rites.

Lewis retired from the Green Bank Observatory. In his early years, he was a coal miner. He was an inventor, a builder and designer. He did a little bit of everything and was good at all of it.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Beale; sons-in-law, Thomas Haas and Kevin Godwin; and great-granddaughter, Saige Bennett.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara “Bobbie” Beale; his daughters, Teresa Kuhlken, and husband, Paul, of Madison, Alabama, Tammy Haas, of Strasburg, Virginia, Toni Biggs, of Augusta, Georgia, Tena Bennett, and husband, Donnie, of Marlinton, and Tabitha Godwin, of Greensboro, North Carolina; Gary Biggs, of Graniteville, South Carolina; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He will be dearly missed.

Family will receive friends Friday, November 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lantz Funeral Home in Buckeye.

Following cremation, a graveside service will be held Sunday, November 26, 1 p.m. at the Mingo Cemetery in Mingo with Masonic Graveside Rites.
