George Albert Alan “Hooter” Hudnall, age 73, of Elkins, departed this life early Thursday evening, November 13, 2014 at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown. He had been in declining health.
Born August 15, 1941, at Birchton, he was a son of the late Albert Hudnell and Ivy Myrtle Stanley.
On May 10, 1969, in Silver Springs, Maryland, he married Carol May Vandevender, who survives. They had celebrated 45 years of marriage.
He attended East Bank High School in Kanawha County. He was a diesel mechanic for Giant Food Company for many years, and retired from the West Virginia Department of Highways, District 8, as a master mechanic. He was an active member of the Elkins Family Worship Center, an avid hunter and fisherman and NASCAR fan and was known as a practical joker.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Karen Marie Currence, and husband, Jeff, Denise Lynne Campbell, and husband, Ric, all of Elkins, and Patricia Ann Vollmer, and husband, Tom, of Loveland, Ohio; a brother, Thomas Edgar Hudnall, and wife, Mary, of Milton; two sisters, Jacqueline Desler, and husband, Jim, of Indiana, and Jean H. Davis, and husband, Garland, of South Carolina; and five grandsons, Josh, Lance, Garrett, Matthew and Logan.
Funeral service was November 17 at Elkins Family Worship Center with Revs. Jamie Estep and Eli Hostetler officiating. Interment was in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens in Gilman.
