State Police served gas station operators with the Governor’s order to sell gas only to those people whose cars had a quarter tank or less of gas. If the station has the gas, your tank can be filled.

The Marlinton Motor Inn is preparing to add a big dining and meeting room at the center and back of the building. It will seat 150, have a big fireplace, and big windows looking to the mountains.

Mrs. Ernest White, of Minnehaha, was in for her annual report Friday to say the frogs were yelling their heads off after the warm rain Friday morning.

Warrior Basketball

The Warriors rolled past Pickens 77—57 at Dunmore Friday night. PCHS had a slow start, but finally put it together at the halfway mark…

Four Warriors were in double figures: Jim Cutlip 16; Dave Moore 16; Mike Collins 16; and Gary Cassell 12.

94th Birthday

Amos McCarty, of Huntersville, will be 94 March 4. After being hospitalized recently, he is staying at the home of his nephew and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Carl McCarty. Mr. McCarty has seen a lot of Pocahontas history. As a young man, he worked in the cutting of the white pine.

WEDDING

Miss Pamela Ann Simmons became the bride of QM3 (SS) Richard Allen Ryder, on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1973, in the Arbovale Methodist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Montgomery officiating. … The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James W. Simmons, Jr., of Arbovale, and the groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Arlie Ryder, of Cass.

DEATHS

William Roy Bruffey, 77, of Kilgore, Idaho; a son of the late John Franklin and Stella Bennett Bruffey. Funeral service was held from Wesley Chapel in Hillsboro; interment in Emmanuel Church Cemetery.

Warren M. Ervin, 65, of Beckley; born at Arbovale, a son of the late Lee and Virgie Sutton Ervin. Funeral held from Keyser-Bryant Funeral Chapel. Burial in Arbovale Cemetery.

Charles Snyder, 29, of Columbia, South Carolina; born at Marlinton, he was a son of Conrad C. and Frances Tyree Snyder. His wife was charged with shooting him during a domestic argument.
