THANKS BOBBY
It takes a unique person to be UMPIRE for Little League games. It not only takes a lot of time, but it takes knowledge of and application of all the Rules. It takes courage and endless patience to call at least four games each week and not talk back to the parents and the other spectators, who always seem to be able to call the game better than the UMPIRE.
We, in Marlinton, are fortunate in having Bobby Dunz as our UMPIRE. He does an outstanding job. He not only devotes at least four evenings a week in umpiring the games, he also keeps the field in condition to play. All of our Little Leaguers look up to Bob and respect his calls even though they don’t always agree with him. We could not have a successful league without him because I don’t think we could ever find anyone to replace him. He doesn’t get any compensation for the work and time he devotes to Little League and seldom does he even get a much-deserved word of encouragement or “well done, Bobby” from the spectators.
He volunteers his service without any thought of compensation. If we had more people like him, we certainly would have a better community.
So, we want to THANK YOU, BOBBY, and let you know that you are appreciated by Little League Officers, Managers, Coaches and Players.

Lois L. Coyner, of Clover Lick; services are tentatively set for Saturday morning at Clover Lick.
Mrs. Mamie J. Pifer, 81, of Marlinton; born at Warwick, a daughter of the late James and Hannah Sharp Johnson. Burial in Mountain View Cemetery.
Hayes Jefferson Marshall, 78, of Palm Harbor, Florida, former resident and mayor of Durbin. Burial in Arbovale Cemetery.
David Lee Vandevander, 23, of Durbin; born at Cherry Grove, a son of Virgil and Halcie Mullenax Vandevander. Funeral service was conducted at the Circleville Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Bessie E. Hudson, 87, died at the home of her daughter in Meadville, Pennsylvania. Born at Green Bank, a daughter of the late Henry and Rachael Gillispie Sheets. Burial in Kiser Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Mae Long Campbell, 59, of Covington, Virginia; born in Pocahontas County, a daughter of Mrs. Clemmie Tracy Long and the late Vernal S. Long. Burial in Rosewood Cemetery in Lewis- burg.
