Our Army and Navy Boys
Clarence T. Fitzwater, AMM 1cT, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. T. Fitzwater, of Slaty Fork, has received an honorable discharge from the Navy. His total Navy service was 40 months, with 20 months sea duty in the Pacific area.
Sergeant Jacob C. Sheets is at home with an honorable discharge received at Camp Atterbury, Indiana. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Grover Sheets, of Green Bank. He served three years and one month in the Army Air Force. Fifteen months was served in the Pacific Theatre, during which time he received many ribbons and stars for his active duties.
Summers Dunbrack is home from the Army with an honorable discharge after long and hard service in the Pacific area.
George William Duncan is at home on a 30-day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Austin Duncan, at Buckeye. He is stationed at San Diego, California, aboard the U.S.S. Dobbin.
Sergeant Johnny Jordan arrived home Friday from Japan.
John R. Wilson has gone to Washington, D. C. to resume his work which was interrupted by Uncle Sam.
Oval W. Ervin, seaman first class, USNR, 26, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Ervin, Arbovale, has been released from the Naval Air Transport Service at Olathe, Kansas, under the demobilization program. Ervin entered the Navy in March 1944 and later was stationed aboard the USS Shaw, a destroyer. He wears the Philippine Liberation, Asiatic Pacific and American Theater Ribbons. He has two children, William, 5, and Juanita, 2.
Staff Sergeant Alfred Callison has returned to his home at Hillsboro after three years and five months in the Army, nineteen months of that time in the Pacific.
FIELD NOTES
Fred Galford, of Williams River, got himself one powerful big old fat bear on Black Mountain a couple of weeks ago. Fred lumped the bear off at over five hundred pounds. This is the first bear bounty to be paid by the County Court.

The other day over at the household of Ed Wood, on Big Spring of Elk, they killed a chicken. This is nothing unusual, but this particular chicken was unusual in that it had two craws. In one craw was the grain and scratch feed of the bird’s supper, and in the other was the breakfast mash swallowed that morning.

Mr. and Mrs. Clawson Beverage, of Marlinton, announce the marriage of their daughter, Miss Gladys Irene, to Clarence Raymond Davis, son of Mr. Lucy Davis, of Marlinton.

Mr. Davis received his honorable discharge form the Navy on January 4, after thirty-two months service with 28 months overseas.
