Pocahontas County Beekeepers educational and organizational meeting

The WVU Extension Service has planned a second educational meeting to organize local beekeepers and those interested in beekeeping. The meeting will be at 6 p.m. Monday, April 7, at the Marlinton Municipal Building in Marlinton. Clay County Extension Agent Mike Shamblin will deliver a short educational presentation on beekeeping, followed by information on registering hives with the West Virginia Department of Agriculture.  Afterwards a short meeting will be held to discuss forming a beekeepers association group. For more information please call the WVU Extension Office at 304-799-4852.

Pocahontas Producers Spring Sale Schedule

Regular Sale – Saturday, April 5, 2 p.m.

Special Spring Calf Sale – Friday, April 11, 7:30 p.m.

Regular Sale/Cow Sale – Saturday, April 19, 2 p.m.

Sponsors Needed for Camp T-Shirts

Sponsors are needed for the Pocahontas County 4-H Camp T-shirts.  Sponsors are asked to contribute $50 and their names will be printed on the back of the camp T-shirts. Every 4-Her attending county camp will receive a shirt.  Businesses, organizations, or individuals interested in being a 2014 sponsor, should call the Extension Office at 304-799-4852 immediately.

 4-H Recycling Contest

Attention 4-H clubs!  The Solid Waste Authority is sponsoring a contest among all Pocahontas County 4-H Clubs to see which club can collect the most newspapers – by weight – between March 1 and April 12. Please note that this contest is for newspapers only. Contact your local 4-H club leader today for all the details on how your club can participate and compete for cash prizes.

Energy Express Deadlines

Energy Express service/employment opportunities are now available for the 2014 Marlinton Elementary Energy Express Site for one site supervisor, four mentors, and one community coordinator.
