William Moore

William H. Moore, age 89, of Marlinton, died Saturday, March 1, 2014, at his home.

Born June 8, 1924, at Huntersville, he was a son of the late Charles K. and Icie Harvey Moore.

William was a retired Millwright from Bethlehem Steel and served in the United States Navy during World War II.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Archie W. Moore; and two brothers, Theodore Q. Moore and O. Richard Moore.

He is survived by his wife, Nellie W. Moore; a daughter, Cathy E. Akins, and husband, Johnny, of Murfeesboro, Tennessee; two sons, Robert C. Moore, of Baltimore, Maryland, and William L. Moore, and wife, Rhonda, of Pasadena, Maryland; two sisters, Hallie L. Cain and Mary J. Taylor, both of Marlinton; grandchildren, Robert, Christina, Christopher, Anna and Jason; and great-grandchildren, Ashley, Peyton, Robbie, Amiee and Cason.

Family will receive friends Wednesday, March 5, from 5 to 8 p.m. at VanReenen Funeral Home. Funeral service is noon, Thursday, March 6, at VanReenen Funeral Home with Pastors David Merryman and Sam Felton officiating. Interment with Military Rites by the Pocahontas County Veterans Honor Corps will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
