Sour Cream Pound Cake
2 ½ cups sugar
3 cups flour
1 cup shortening
1 cup sour cream
¼ tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. salt
10 drops butter flavoring
Mix all ingredients in a mixer bowl.
Beat five minutes.
Bake in a greased and floured tube pan for 1 hour and 30 minutes at 325º.
You may substitute any flavoring you’d like, such as almond, lemon, vanilla or others.
1 cleaned, whole 2 pound sea bass – or trout or flounder
1 tsp. shredded ginger root
2 Tbsp. chopped scallion
¾ tsp. fermented black beans or ½ tsp. salt
1 ½ Tbsp. each of soy sauce, dry sherry and peanut or corn oil
2 quarts water
Clean, wash, drain, dry and place whole fish in a heat proof dish.
Mix together ginger, scallion, black beans, soy sauce, sherry and peanut oil.
Pour over fish.
Heat water in large saucepan.
Place rack in sauce pan.
Put fish on rack, making sure the fish is well above the water level.
Cover and steam about 15 minutes.
Serve whole fish including head.
Country Chicken Salad
2 cups chopped chicken
1 cup chopped apple
4 hardboiled eggs, chop-ped
½ cup Kraft Mayonnaise
¼ cup sweet pickle relish, drained.
You can use slivered almonds, if you’d like.
Combine all ingredients except almonds.
Mix and chill.
Garnish with almonds.
This is really good on homemade bread.
