Macaroni and Cheese
President Ronald Reagan
1/2 lb. macaroni
1 tsp. butter
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. dry mustard
3 cups grated cheese, sharp
1 cup milk
Cook macaroni until tender, drain.
Stir in butter and egg.
Add cheese, leaving enough to sprinkle on top.
Mix mustard and salt with 1 Tbsp. hot water and add to milk.
Pour into buttered casserole, add milk, sprinkle with cheese.
Bake at 350º for about 45 minutes or until custard is set and top is crusty.
Beef Stroganoff
Senator Robert C. Byrd
1 1/2 lb. round steak
1/4 cup butter
1 cup sliced mushrooms or a 3 oz. can, drained
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 cup chopped onions
1 can tomato soup
Salt and pepper
1 cup sour cream
Cut beef into long thin strips. Brown well in 1/4 cup butter in heavy skillet.
Add mushrooms, onion and garlic.
Cook until lightly browned.
Blend in tomato soup, sour cream, salt and pepper.
Cover and simmer about 1 hour or until beef is tender.
Stir occasionally.
Serve over hot cooked rice.
