Fresh Strawberry Pie
4 cups washed, capped strawberries
1 cup sugar
3 Tbsp. cornstarch
2 Tbsp. lemon juice
1/2 cup water
1/2 tsp. salt
Red food coloring- optional
Mash 2 cups of berries; leave 2 cups firm and whole.
Add sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, salt and water to the mashed berries and cook in double boiler until thick.
Place the firm, whole berries in a baked crust.
Pour sauce mixture over berries to fill. Chill.
Top with whipped cream before serving.
 
Gum Springs Ragoo
1/2 lb. bacon
1 lb. round steak
Salt and pepper
3 carrots, sliced thin
1 med. onion, sliced
4 med. potatoes, sliced
Parsley flakes
In large heavy skillet, arrange bacon strips over bottom. Cut the steak in strips and cover bacon with steak. Salt and pepper to taste. Cover the meat with carrots, onions and potatoes. Add parsley flakes, cover and cook over low heat for 2 1/2 hours or until done. Add water if necessary.
