Grandfather’s Supper Stew with Noodles
Brown 2 lbs. cubed round steak (or lamb) in 2 Tbsp. butter.
Add 1 cup canned tomatoes, 2 tsp. salt, 1 tsp. pepper, 1/4 tsp nutmeg, 1/2 cup chopped onion and simmer for 15 minutes.
Add 1/2 cup chopped celery, 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms, 1 cup sour cream, 1 tsp. hot sauce and 1 1/2 cups water.
Cover and simmer 1 hour or until meat is tender.
Serve over noodles.
Apple Nut Cookies
Mix together:
1 stick butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup applesauce
1 egg
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
Add:
2 cups flour
1 tsp. each: ground cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg
1 cup walnuts or pecans
Blend well.
Drop by teaspoonfuls on well greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350º for 15 to 20 minutes.
