Ward Hunter Sheets, age 94, of Meadville, Pennsylvania, died Monday, April 4, 2016, in Meadville.

Born September 5, 1921, at Green Bank, he was a son of the late Arthur B. and Virgie V. Taylor Sheets.

He married Mary C. Sheets May 25, 1944, and she preceded him in death June 6, 2003.

Ward was a United States Army Veteran of World War II serving from 1945 to 1946. He worked for Channellock, Palmer Forge Company, in Meadville, Pennsylvania, as a tool and die maker for 25 years at Kaiser Aluminum Company in Erie, Pennsylvania, and was owner and operator of S & M Die Company in Meadville, Pennsylvania, until his retirement.

He was a member and former Sunday School Superintendent at Blooming Valley United Methodist Church and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, music and playing the guitar.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond B. Sheet; and a half-brother, Jack A. Sheets.

He is survived by a son, Dr. David W. Sheets, of Oakland, Maryland; four daughters, Virgie G. Johnson, of Oldsmar, Florida, Darlene L. O’Daniels, and husband, Ed Brautigam, of New Port Richey, Florida, Lynette Chapin, and husband, Ron, of Meadville, Pennsylvania, and Kathleen G. McDaniel, and her sprouse, Elizabeth Wood, of Santa Fe, New Mexico; a half-sister, Peg Arcuri, and husband, Thomas, of Cleveland, Ohio; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service is Saturday, April 9, 11 a.m. at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St, Meadville, Pennsylvania. Interment with Military Rites will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
