Virginia Alice Cassell, age 86, of Hillsboro, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017, at Pocahontas Memorial Hospital in Buckeye.

Born October 4, 1930, at Maxwelton, she was a daughter of the late Joseph L. and Anna Mae Collins Cassell.

Ginny was of the Methodist faith. She retired from Pocahontas Memorial Hospital, where she worked as head of housekeeping when the hospital was in downtown Marlinton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Sheets and Penny Miller; and two brothers, Joseph Neal Cassell and John Cassell.

She is survived by a daughter, Sue Totten, of Hillsboro; two sons, Joseph L. White, of Elkton, Virginia, and William H. White, of Easley, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Brad Totten, Maggie Johnston, Jamie Loudermilk. Adam White and Will White; six great-grandchildren, Ally Dunbrack, Ryan May, Anthony Totten, Anne Marie Johnston, Aly Johnston and Jared Loudermilk; two sisters, Mary Perkins, of Buckhannon, and Shelby McLaughlin, of Dunmore; and two brothers, Brown Cassell, of Cass, and Chester Cassell, of Hendersonville, North Carolina.

Funeral service was January 24 at Lantz Funeral Home in Buckeye with Rev. David Rittenhouse officiating. Interment was in the Wanless Cemetery on Back Mountain near Cass.
