Tommy Vandevender

Tommy C. Vandevender, age 82, of Bartow, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2021, at Pocahontas Memorial Hospital.

Born August 6, 1938 in Thornwood, he was a son of the late Alvie Goff and Dolly Irene Vandevender.

Tommy was of the Methodist faith. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a skidder operator and grill master. He enjoyed singing and playing guitar, and loved to tinker and remodel stuff.

Tommy is survived by his special companion, Wilma Jolley; daughters, Serena Jones, and husband, Mike, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Sarah Vandevender, of Durbin, Michelle Hanson, of South Dakota, and Carolyn Vandevender, of Boyer; sons, Tommy Ringo Vandevender, of Durbin, and Tommy Ringo Vandevender, of South Dakota; step-daughter, Catherine Yokum, and husband, Jim, of Huttonsville; sisters, Susie McCoy, of Martinsburg, Delores Jo Adamy, of Thomas, and Janie Hedrick, and husband, Roger, of Davis.

Funeral service will be held Friday, June 25, 2021, at 1 p.m. at the Thornwood Community Church with Pastor David Rittenhouse officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Vandevender Cemetery at Thornwood.

Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Thornwood Community Church.
