MAIN STREET IN Marlinton was awash in a Christmasy glow Friday night for the annual Christmas parade. Colorful floats, folks who walked their entry or played in a band joined together to bring light and Christmas cheer as a kick-off to the season.

Tied for first place were, top, Santa’s “Reindeer” and Goat and bottom, the Miss Pocahontas float.

Joining in the festivities was Santa Claus and his helper elf, who hitched a ride with the Marlinton Fire Department. S. Stewart photos

Thrilling the crowd gathered for the Christmas parade in Marlinton were floats depicting both traditional and comical Christmas scenes. Tied for second place in the contest: above, Marlinton United Methodist Church, and at left, a busy Happy Griswold Christmas.
