KILLED IN KOREA
On Tuesday Mrs. Mary Frances Moore received the sad message that her brother, Robert Bratton, had been killed in the fighting in Korea. No particulars were given.
FIELD NOTES
No one has reported seeing a groundhog February 2. However, there are a number of reports of flocks of wild geese being seen on Greenbrier River last week.
The panther was again seen at the Pocahontas Fairgrounds Monday night.
This time there was snow on the ground, and his tracks were plain next day. Without the proof of sight of the varmint, anyone who can tell a cat track from a dog track would easily recognize the oversize footprints as those of a panther.
Bartow – Tuesday night, the family of Olet Mullenax, at their farm home, was disturbed by the terrific screaming of a big varmint – a panther. The cattle in the barn responded with bellowing and bawling. The hunting dogs refused to chase the animal.
