Rita Felton

Rita June Felton, age 81, of Dailey, was at her home, surrounded by her family, when she passed peacefully from this life to her heavenly home, Sunday morning, July 31, 2016, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Rita was a Christmas baby, born December 26, 1934, in Clemtown. She was a daughter of the late Burton and Ethel Canfield Murphy.

On May 27, 1950, she married the love of her life, Samuel Mark Felton, Sr., who preceded her in death July 29, 2004. They were married for more than 54 years at the time of his passing.

Rita was affectionately known as “Mama June” to all her family and friends. She was an epitome of a Christian woman. She was a homemaker and very active in her church, serving was secretary and treasurer for the Mill Creek United Methodist Women. She also volunteered at Tyrand Parish Ministries for several years and worked at the Mill Creek Nutrition site.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two infant brothers.

She is survived by two sons, Sam Felton, and wife, Nicki, of Marlinton, and Steve Felton, and wife, Darlene, of Mill Creek; her only sister, Genevieve Ball, of Clemtown; five grandchildren, Michelle “Micky” Messer, of Elkins, Donna Corley, of Belington, Rusty Felton, and wife, Patty, and Curtiss Felton, all of Marlinton, and Scott Felton, of Mill Creek; seven great-grandchildren, Tessa Murphy, Shae Dadisman, Wesley Felton, Shannen McClure, Rachel Felton, Adley Felton and Zeb Felton; and two great-great-grandchildren, Nevaeh Cooper and Kaiden Tingler.

Funeral service was August 3 at the Mill Creek United Methodist Church with Rev. Pam Ritchie and Sam Felton officiating. Interment was in Mountain State Memorial Gardens in Gilman.

Memorials may be made to the Mill Creek United Methodist Church or Tyrand Parish Ministries.
