Richard G. “Dick” Emery, age 80, of Tellico Village Community, Loudon, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2020.

Dick was a member of the Community Church at Tellico Village and a veteran of the United States Air Force.

Dick was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, and grew up in Brattleboro, Vermont. After the Air Force, he worked for the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company and Bell Atlantic in Washington, D.C., for 30 years, serving at the White House from 1973 to 1983. He also worked in national security related telecommunications positions until his retirement.

He was known and loved for his engaging stories, humor and quick wit. He lived a full life and was always optimistic and remained positive and upbeat even in the face of his health challenges in later life.

Dick was an avid hiker and tennis and racquetball player until suffering a hemorrhagic stroke in 1998, which affected his mobility.

His survivors include his wife of almost 45 years, Sara Currence Emery, formerly of Marlinton; sons, Scott Emery, of Ft. Myers, Florida, and David Emery, of Tampa, Florida; and grandchildren, Megan and Sydney Emery, of Ft. Myers, Florida.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Smoky Mountain Service Dogs, 110 Toweeka Circle, Loudon, TN.

Click Funeral Home and Cremations is serving the family of Dick Emery.
