This aerial view of Harter shows the layout of the lumber town located on the Greenbrier River five miles northeast of Marlinton. The Harter Brothers Lumber Company (William J. and A. M., of Coburn, Pa.) began operating a small band mill here in 1903 to cut timber on 1,400 acres located on Laurel Run and Clover Lick Mountain. The mill closed when they finished the job in 1911.
