CPR/First Aid Class
Pocahontas Memorial Hospital will offer a combination CPR and First Aid Class Friday, June 5.  There will be two sessions – the first is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon, with a repeat course from 1 to 4 p.m.  Choose the time that works best for you.  Participants will be certified in both CPR and First Aid.  The cost is $30.  This month’s classes will be held at the Marlinton Community Wellness Center.
Class size is limited, so you must pre-register by calling Katie Brown at 304-799-7400 ext. 1023.
Each year, 420,000 cardiac arrests occur in out-of-hospital settings.  Sadly, 90 percent of these folks will die – largely due to the fact that they do not receive immediate CPR.
Knowing CPR could save a loved one’s life. Four out of every five cardiac arrests happens in the home.
Auxiliary sponsored Community Bazaar
Pocahontas Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will hold its third annual Community Bazaar on the hospital lawn Saturday, June 13, from 9 a.m. until 1p.m. The Auxiliary encourages everyone to come out for the event.
Individuals and groups – including community organizations, crafters and churches – can purchase a space for $10. A table will be provided, or you may bring your own. Bring your unwanted items and spend the day with us; or just come to buy.
All proceeds from the sale of tables will go to the Auxiliary. The Auxiliary is involved in a variety of activities to help support the hospital’s role in the community. The group has made significant purchases over the years including a dishwasher for the kitchen, clocks, chairs, IV poles and pumps, Pulse Oximeters, GPS for the Ambulance Service, and wall mount otoscope/opthalmoscopes for the Rural Health Clinic exam rooms.
To reserve a space, please contact Sandy Stimpson at 304-799-5472 or email her at pahinui@hotmail.com.
