New – and familiar – faces join PMH RHC

The Rural Health Clinic at Pocahontas Memorial Hospital has announced the recent addition of J. Copley, PA-C to its staff; as well as the return of Dr. Alan Thorne, DO. Both providers are now accepting new patients.

J. or “Jay” Copley is from Richwood and a Glenville State College graduate. He received his training and degree as a Physician’s Assistant from Beckley College. Before joining the RHC, Copley was the Clinic Manager of the Richwood Family Practice. Copley has experience in Emergency Medicine, working at both Richwood Community Hospital and Summersville Regional Medical Center.

Dr. Alan Thorne is a familiar face at PMH, and has returned from retirement to see patients once more. Thorne graduated from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in 1983. Before attending medical school, Thorne was a licensed pharmacist and graduated from the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy. He has lived and worked in many states over the years including Alaska, Texas, Montana and Kansas.

The RHC offers a full range of medical services including care for illness and chronic disease management, well child checks, immunizations, and physical examinations, in addition to women’s and children’s health services.

The PMH Rural Health Clinic is open to all and located inside the hospital, which allows patients access to lab and x-ray services without having to go through the emergency department.

You may make an appointment with Jay Copley, Dr. Thorne, or any of our other providers by calling 304-799-6200.

Walk-ins are also welcome. The clinic is open Monday thru Friday 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Registration for the clinic is at the front desk of the hospital.
