PMH Auxiliary Gift Shop ~ a Hidden Gem

The Pocahontas Memorial Hospital Auxiliary was formed in 1972 and, since then, has quietly invested nearly $200,000 into the hospital facility through equipment and improvements. The community is aware of its many fundraisers such as the Christmas Love Light Tree, the annual Prize Palooza, dances, bake sales, bakeless bake sales and drawings for special baskets. Receiving smaller attention is their Gift Shop located inside the hospital.

The Gift Shop has seen some major improvements over the last few years with painting, new shelving and high quality gifts. The Auxiliary has a shop they can truly be proud of, with a wide selection of merchandise suitable as gifts for patients, holiday shopping, and apparel with the PMH logo.

Rada knives and cookware are displayed and available to order. A large selection of tote bags, handbags and wallets are on display; as well as popular The Naked Bee skin products and Silver Forest jewelry. Home décor items including pictures, linen dishtowels, and more are attractively arranged throughout the shop. The Gift Shop has become the place for staff and supporters to purchase PMH clothing.

In addition to several items in the shop, frequent orders are placed throughout the year for everything from fleece vests to T-shirts.

The Auxiliary invites hospital visitors to check out the Gift Shop on their next trip. Hours vary, according to Auxiliary staffing. But the shop can be opened on request through the Radiology Department.

The Auxiliary encourages anyone interested in joining its group to attend the next meeting Tuesday, July 13, at 2 p.m. in the hospital Conference Room. Masks will be worn and social distancing enforced.

The Auxiliary is open to both men and women. You can commit as much or as little time to the group as you wish. You are just asked to be willing to work toward the good of the hospital.
