Big winners at the Pocahontas Memorial Hospital annual Youth Health Fair included Eli Beezley, above, who won a collection of toy guns, and Noah Clifton, below, in his new kayak.

Record attendance at Youth Health Fair

Pocahontas Memorial Hospital’s Annual Youth Health Fair was another huge success with more than 165 youth registering for the event. Attendance at last year’s fair doubled over the attendance in 2017, and it continued to grow this year.

This is due to more advertising as well as cooperation with Energy Express and our county schools in promoting the event.

With free food, health-related exhibits, crafts, golf cart rides, nerf guns and games, there was truly something for everyone. HealthNet Aeromedical’s helicop- ters and flight crew once again participated in the event. Youth and adults alike enjoyed taking a peek into the “flying emergency room.”

The day ended with the much anticipated drawing for door prizes. Dozens of door prizes, including five bicycles, a kayak, inflatable pools, Snowshoe Fun Passes, life jackets and sports equipment, went home with lucky winners. Door prizes were donated by PMH staff and local businesses.

Pocahontas Memorial Hospital wants to thank all of the participants, exhibitors, volunteers and staff for making the day such a success. Much appreciation goes to all the businesses and individuals in the community who donated door prizes and food.
