PMH Medical Records Department relocates

Pocahontas Memorial Hospital’s Medical Records Department has moved to the PMH “Annex” located next to Pocahontas Pharmacy. The Annex is also home to the Business Office and training room as well as other offices.

If you or a family member needs to request or pick up copies of your medical records, please visit the department in their new location. The telephone number remains the same, 304-799-7400, extension 1308.  With their new location, patients can now conveniently and easily request records and make inquiries on their billing account in the same building.

The Medical Records Department is responsible for all Health Information Management for patients of our hospital and clinic. HIM is the process of maintaining, storing, and retrieving health information. HIM professionals have 10 main responsibilities that include basic medical coding, medical transcribing, medical necessity, providing support to medical staff, assembly of medical records, maintaining medical records, filing, making sure all records are kept private and secure, and ensuring any release of information is done properly and securely. Maintaining confidentiality is their top priority in all dealings — from the beginning of a new patient record to the eventual disposal.
