Bakeless Bake Sale to benefit auxiliary

Pocahontas Memorial Hospital Auxiliary’s first fundraiser of 2019 is officially underway with their annual “Bakeless Bake Sale.”  This is an easy way to contribute to the Auxiliary.  Just make a donation in any amount you choose – it could be the price of a pie or a cake – and send it to the auxiliary.  For every $25 donated, your name will be entered for a drawing for a $50 gift certificate to Locust Hill Inn, Cabin and Restaurant.

The Bakeless Bake Sale will run through February 28, when the drawing will be held.

Donations can be made to the auxiliary and dropped off to Cheryl Cain in the Radiology Department.  They may also be sent by mail to PMH Auxiliary, 150 Duncan Road, Buckeye, WV 24924.

The auxiliary was formed in 1972 with 94 active and associate members.  President Jean Weatherholt has been a member since 2005 and says it took two years for her to be talked into joining.

Throughout the auxiliary’s forty year existence, more than $150,000 of equipment and improvements at the hospital have been paid for from its treasury.  Funds are raised through various fundraisers, as well as the hospital Gift Shop.

Purchases for the hospital in 2018 included a pulse oximeter, scales, outside signage, laptop for the Rural Health Clinic, four transport chairs, magazine rack in the lobby, Yeti cooler for Marketing department Facebook giveaway, printer/copy machine for Radiology, trash cans and a dolly for Housekeeping, kitchen cabinets for Dietary, new flooring in the Chapel and Gift Shop, reupholstered chairs in the Chapel, and anti-fatigue mats for the Lab.

The Auxiliary encourages anyone interested in joining their group to attend their next meeting Tuesday, February 12, at 2 p,m, in the hospital Conference Room.

Monthly meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month.  The auxiliary is open to both men and women.  You can commit as much or as little time to the group as you wish; all they ask is that you be willing to work toward the good of the hospital.

You may contact a member of the auxiliary by calling the Gift Shop at 304-799-7400 ext. 1083, Edwina Garber at ext.1081, or Cheryl Cain at ext. 1051.
