Pocahontas Memorial Hospital’s Health Fairs for 2018 will begin two full weeks earlier than in the past, with the first public site fair April 11.
In order to help more PEIA policyholders meet their “Healthy Tomorrows” requirements, all school sites, the county courthouse, and the DOH garage will be completed by April 30. Health Fair coordinators hope this will lessen the stress for many who have PEIA insurance who are required to have the “Healthy Tomorrows” paperwork completed by the mid-May deadline.
The Health Fairs have been an important part of this community’s healthcare for more than 25 years. As a result of the Health Fairs throughout the years, dozens of critical health conditions, such as anemia and low blood cell counts, thyroid issues, leukemia, diabetes, high lipids, bleeding disorders and prostate cancer, have been discovered in patients for the first time.
Prices for 2018 will remain the same at $25 for the Executive I Panel with an additional $5 if men choose to add the Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) test. Other tests available include an A1C for an additional $15, Vitamin D test for an additional $25, and a bone density test for an additional $10. New this year will be a Vitamin B12 test, available for $25. All these tests are being offered at discounted rates.
The Annual Health Fair at Pocahontas Memorial Hospital will be held Friday, May 11.
The full schedule is printed on page 3 of this week’s edition of The Pocahontas Times and is also available on our Facebook page.
The last public Health Fair for the year will be held May 17.
