PCHS golf team is swinging and winning matches

According to Coach Philip Anderson the Pocahontas County Warrior Golf team edged out the Bath County Chargers at a recent meet.

Pocahontas County:
– Branden Wilfong 40
– Matt Rao 42
– Branden Halterman 46
– Austin Sharp 50
Total 178

Bath County:
– Noah Burns 43
– Alex Pritt 46
– Josh Chestnut 47
– Cody Woodzell 54
Total 190

In scramble play Warriors Chase Alkire and Jared Clemmens shot 41, while Chargers Brown and Bulgarelli tallied 44.

“Pocahontas County, playing the course for the first time, did well,” Anderson said. “We need consistency at every spot to be more competitive.”

Next week the Warriors will scrimmage Alleghany High School of Covington, Virginia, and Parry McCluer High School, located in Buena Vista, Virginia, to get ready for a Regional Conference Match which will be held September 28.
