Nila Simmons

Nila Felecia Brown Simmons, age 87, of Hillsboro, died Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at her home.

Born April 20, 1927, at Droop, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth and Emma Barrett Brown.

Nila was a homemaker and was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church on Droop.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Grady Brown, Harold Brown and Clifford Brown; and four sisters, Lena Fuller, Nora Pritt, Bessie Simmons and Nina Friel.

She is survived by her husband, Paul McNeel Simmons; a son, Gerald Paul Simmons, and wife, Barbara, of Craigsville; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great- great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was June 20 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church on Droop with Pastor Christopher Scott officiating. Interment was in Sunset Cemetery in Jacox.

Memorials may be made to Sunset Cemetery, c/o Lyle Ware, 752 Jacox Road, Hillsboro, WV 24946.

Arrangements were entrusted to VanReenen Funeral Home.
