Jackson Marshall

Jackson George Marshall, Sr., age 81, of Bartow, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014, at Mon General Hospital in Morgantown.

Born May 11, 1933, in Washington, D. C., he was a son of the late Jackson Leroy and Agnes Pennyfield Marshall.

Jackson was a self-employed carpenter, a Marine Corps Veteran- serving from 1951 to 1957 – and was a lifetime member of the VFW in Del Alton, Maryland, Post #10081.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carole W. Marshall; a son, Jackson Marshall; and five brothers.

He is survived by his daughters, Pam Defibaugh, of Bartow, Becky Queen and Sue Peck, both of Durbin; sons, Bobby Joe Marshall, of Texas, George Marshall, of Hampton, Virginia, and Jerry Marshall, of Harrisonburg, Virginia; sisters, Nellie Martha Shadrack, of Florida, Mary James Miller and Romona Maryman, both of Maryland; and brothers, Bobby Marshall and John Marshall, both of Maryland; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral service was June 22 at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale, with Rev. Dave Plank officiating. Burial with military rites was in the Gum Cemetery on Back Mountain.
