According to News4 JAX in Jacksonville, Florida, Erica Newsome, 37, has been indicted by a grand jury for first degree murder in the death of her 11 year old daughter, Kayelea Plummer. She was also charged with aggravated child abuse and child neglect.

Newsome was arrested in Pocahontas County Sunday, August 6, 2017, and charged with concealment of a deceased human body following an accident near Thorn- wood about a mile and a half inside the West Virginia state line.

What appeared to be a simple accident took a turn toward the bizarre when a couple from New York City, traveling the same highway, reported that they had seen Newsome remove a body from the vehicle and drag it over the hill.

When law enforcement arrived on the scene they determined that it was the body of a child, and that the child was dead prior to the accident.

Newsome is facing a mandatory sentence of life in prison, unless the State of Florida provides notice of its intent to seek the death penalty.
