National Drug Take-Back April 29

Jeff Barlow
Pocahontas County Sheriff

The Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Department and the Marlinton Detachment of the West Virginia State Police will participate in the National Drug Take-Back Initiative Saturday, April 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This event offers an opportunity for the public to surrender dispensed pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications to law enforcement for destruction. It also results in the removal of potentially dangerous controlled substances from homes in our communities, thereby lessoning the possibility of accidental poisoning, overdose and abuse.

The Sheriff’s Department will accept these substances and medications at its department located at 900 Jail Lane in Marlinton, just behind the Pocahontas County Courthouse.

The state police will accept these substances and medications at its detachment at 16212 Seneca Trail in Buckeye; located beside the Marlinton Middle School.

Please keep in mind that “sharps” – syringes, needles and scalpels – will not be accepted.
