Myrtle Virginia Burgess, age 86, of Marlinton, passed away Friday, March 17, 2016, at Pocahontas Center in Marlinton.

Born March 1, 1931, at Marlinton, she was a daughter of the late James and Gladys Arbogast Tyree.

Myrtle was a homemaker, a member of the Marlinton Church of God and attended New Vision Praise and Worship Center in Marlinton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ronald William Pennington; second husband, Pat Wesley Burgess; a daughter, Peggy Vandevender; three sons, Ronald Pennington, Jr., James Edward Pennington and George L. Burgess; a brother, James L. Tyree; and five grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Helen Pennington Harlow, and husband, Ronald, of Selma, Virginia, Wanda Blankenship, and special friend, Eddie Hannah, and Kitty Miller, and husband, Buckey, all of Marlinton, Linda Wilson, and husband, Ron, of Mt. City, Tennessee, Susan Castle, of Gordonsville, Virginia, and Vada Boback, and husband, John, of Morgantown; sons, Billy Pennington, of Burnsville, Tom Pennington, and fiancée, Carol Stevens, of Grafton, and Ethan A. Burgess, and wife, Denise, of Marlinton; a step-son, Rocky Burgess, of Gaines ville, Florida; a brother, Orman Tyree, of Alexandria, Virginia; a sister, Sylvia Woodhouse, of Marlinton; 42 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends Friday, March 24, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Lantz Funeral Home in Buckeye. Funeral service is Saturday, March 25, 1 p.m. at New Vision Praise and Worship Center in Marlinton with Pastors Fred Goldizen and Richard Wanless officiating. Interment will be in Cochran Cemetery in Onoto.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Feed the Children, PO Box 36, Oklahoma, OK 73101.
