Merle Gene Kerr, Sr., age 81, of Dunmore, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at his home.

Born August 2, 1932, at Dunmore, he was a son of the late Teddy Thornton and Violet Frances Wilfong Kerr.

Merle was a member of the Riverside Lodge #127 AF&AM of Cass, a member of the Scottish Rite in Charleston, the Knight Court Commander of Honor (KCCH), a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge and a retired truck driver for NRAO.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Abbie Neal Kerr, on December 6, 2013.

He is survived by his daughters, Shirley Marie Curry, of Dunmore, Margaret Ginger Thomas, of Waynesboro, Virginia, Vicki Lynn Hull, and husband, Douglas, of Ruckersville, Virginia, and Brenda Frances Connor, of Dunmore; a son, Merle Gene Kerr, Jr., and wife, Trudy, of Strasburg, Virginia, six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside service was April 5 in the Arbovale Cemetery with Masonic Rites conducted by the Riverside Lodge #124 AF&AM of Cass.
