Mary Shinaberry

Mary Mollie Vandevander Shinaberry, age 73, of Cass, died Saturday, December 21, 2013, at Pocahontas Memorial Hospital.

Born July 17, 1940, at Arbovale, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Eston and Iva Mae Hedrick Vandevander.

Mary was a retired cook.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Shinaberry; three sisters, Catherine Beverage, Christine Vandevander and Helen Ward; and five brothers, Harry, John, Lake, Arthur and Gerald Vandevander.

She is survived by her husband, Arnold Shinaberry, Sr.; two daughters, Sarah McCombs, of Hillsboro, and Brenda Walton, of Marlinton; four sons, Arnold Shinaberry, Jr., of Maryland, John Shinaberry and Ricky Shinaberry, both of Cass, and Phillip Shinaberry, of Marlinton; four sisters, Sylvia Mitchell, of Clera, Alabama, Rebecca Moses, of Beverly, Annalee Tracy, of Arbovale, and Frances Barnett, of Cass; four brothers, Charles Ray Vandevander, of Arbovale, Stanley Vandevander, of Marlinton, Arnold Vandevander, of Monterey, Virginia, and William Vandevander, of Florida; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside service is Saturday, January 11, 2 p.m. at the Arbovale Cemetery with Pastor Phillip Thompson officiating.
