Mary Etta Peacock, 99, of Elkins, peacefully passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at WV Caring in Elkins.
Born November 9, 1925, in Winona, she was a daughter of the late Granvil and Ida Stokley.
Mary was a 1943 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley.
For more than 50 years, she co-owned and operated J & P Furniture in Marlinton. She had a sharp business sense and a strong work ethic. She loved reading and was a member of the Eastern Star. Mary dearly loved her family and helped many people – both family and friends – through the years.
She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, as well as a respected member of the business community.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Merriel Peacock; daughter, Karen Linzalone; brothers, Roy Stokley, and wife, Mary Alice, Jimmy Stokley, and wife, Edna, and Basil Stokley, and wife, Jean; sisters, Shirley Branch, and husband, Edward, and Clara Lucile Stokley; one grandchild, Ronald Peacock II; and one great-grandchild, Jacob Kidd.
She is survived by her sons, David Peacock, and wife, Debbie, of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Ronald Peacock, and wife, Brenda, of Bunker Hill; daughter, Teresa Brewster, and husband, Allen, of Elkins; son-in-law, Pat Linzalone, of Elkins; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Friday, May 16, 2025, at noon at Kimble Funeral Home in Marlinton with Pastor Sam Felton officiating.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of service.
Her final resting place will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mary’s legacy is one of strength, generosity and love and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
