Plans for the Autumn Harvest Festival and Roadkill Cook-off are in progress. Thanks to the committee members who make it all happen. We look forward to the big day, Saturday, September 30.

Create Your State Tour– Another program offering an opportunity for public input into how to better our community. The event will be held at the Marlinton Municipal Building Friday, October 13, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The Create Your State Tour is an entertaining multimedia performance and workshop that inspires and empowers creative community transformation
Congratulations: To an asset in our community, the One Room University (ORU) in Marlinton. Now, in its 12th year.

Reminder: Local businesses and organizations should take advantage of every opportunity to invite people to visit Marlinton and Pocahontas County. Invite clubs or organizations to visit or hold a meeting here in the county. It is to the benefit of our local economy to be thinking about conventions, conferences and other activities that draw people. Archers, spelunkers, hikers or campers create extra traffic and that is a good thing for our restaurants, shops and convenience stores.

Two are stronger than one.

Working together does make a difference.

For instance, West Virginia Quilts of Barboursville will have a workshop at the Old Campbelltown Schoolhouse Saturday, September 23.

Two Public Meetings: Last week, a FEMA training meeting was held in town and lunch was catered by Rayetta’s Lunchbox.

WVU sent a design team to collect public input about the vacant lot beside the Opera House. The group stayed Friday evening for the evening show of The Mountain Music Trail’s Music in the Mountains event.

NOTE: Handicapped access is available for the municipal auditorium by using the street level elevator. Entry at the back of the town building. Press level 2.
