Louise Amanda Taylor Rockafellow, age 83, of Greenville, Texas, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017, following a long illness.
Born September 1, 1934, at Dunmore, she was a daughter of the late Charlie J. and Nola Galford Taylor.
Louise was a 1952 graduate of Green Bank High School and a graduate of Charleston Business College in Charleston. She was a retired secretary/receptionist. She met the love of her life, Edward Gale “Rocky” Rockafellow, and the couple married August 20, 1966, at Langly Air Force Base in Virginia.
When she could, Louise traveled with Rocky during his career in the United States Air Force. She followed him to Webb Air Force Base in Texas, Rhein-Main Air Force Base in Germany, and Loring Air Force Base in Maine.
Following Rocky’s retirement from the Air Force, he and Louise moved to Dunmore. Rocky then got a job in San’s North Yemen and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Louise and their son, Steven, joined him there. The couple then returned to Dunmore, and Rocky got a job with E-systems in Greenville, Texas, and Louise and Steven joined him.
Louise was a loving wife, caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Zula and Marvin Taylor.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Edward “Rocky” Rockafellow; sons, Gary Taylor, and wife, Linda, of Manassas, Virginia, and Steven Rockafellow, of Greenville, Texas; five grandchildren, Sarah Bosworth, and husband, Kevin, of Berryville, Virginia, Matthew Taylor, and wife, Cassandra, of Ely, Nevada, Daniel Taylor, of Manassas, Virginia, Tristan Blasingame, of Greenville, Texas, and Tyra Rockafellow, of Oklahoma; four great-granddaughters; and four great-grandsons.
Family will receive friends Friday, December 8, from 6 to 9 p.m. at VanReenen Funeral Home in Marlinton. Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 9, 1 p.m. at VanReenen Funeral Home with Pastor David Rittenhouse officiating. Interment will be in Arbovale Cemetery.
