Linda Cassell

Linda Jean Cassell, 67, of Cass, passed away Friday, August 11, 2023, at her residence. 

Born May 30, 1956, in Marlinton, she was a daughter of the late Donald Ray and Gladys Mary Ryder Huff.

Mrs. Cassell was employed as a maid at Snowshoe Mountain Resort. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved the mountains and living by the river. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Lee Cassell on February 19, 2023; brothers, Calvin Ray and Donald Ray, Jr.; sisters, Cathleen Ray and Shelby Ryder; and a special niece, Melissa Cassell.

She is survived by two children, Margaret Ellen Taylor and Christina Dawn Taylor, both of Cass; three grandchildren, Destiny Faith Varner, Xnobia Hope Varner and Thomas Edward Varner, and wife, Clara; great-grandchildren, Artreus and Valkyrie Varner.

A funeral service was held Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at 2 p.m. at VanReenen Funeral Home with Reverend David Rittenhouse officiating. Interment was in Ryder Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by VanReenen Funeral Home.
